ROLEPLAY EVENTS
Every so often a thread will pop up in the Roleplay Events board, posted under the staff-run Mother Nature, Prey, or Predator accounts. Events are simply special threads to engage members more actively than if you were just role playing hunting/fighting scenes by yourself. Event threads also give out prizes based on the event and these do vary - more often than not these will be points and extra skill points, but all awards will be announced at the top of each thread. These are run by staff and can occur anywhere at anytime, although they typically take place one at a time. Locations of these threads will vary.
The ability to set your own event into motion can be bought in the Site Shop or won in contests. If you have a plot idea or want staff to play a prey-character for a minor hunt or whatnot, you may send them a request. If we are able, or think it could be an interesting idea, we may oblige ourselves or by letting members play on prey/predator accounts. There can also be predators and place bounties upon them if they are especially notorious predators. Bounties will give out better awards. Bounty predators will be much harder to defeat and more dangerous, however.
Prey events will be used for hunting. The prey will, more often than not, be a prey animal found in specified territory but can occasionally be a 'rare prey'. Each prey will have their own set of strengths and weaknesses - viewable by the first post of the thread. To successfully hunt and kill the prey animal you will have to utilize your strengths and weaknesses and theirs; use their strengths against their weaknesses when you can. If they happen to out skill you - get creative! Not all attempts will be successful but awards will still be given based on how creative (or not) you were.
You cannot just declare your character caught the prey, this is for staff to decide. When posting, it's advisable to be as descriptive as possible and make note of your character's strengths over the prey's. Include why your think your character's approach or attack would be successful or not. It may also be helpful to plan ahead by posting what your character may do if their attempt fails. We want these to be realistic, fun and engaging so don't expect to catch it on your first attempt!
These are usually started in the Roleplay Event board and are open to a limited amount of participants. The first post of the thread will be posted by the prey account showing the strengths, weaknesses, any rules, the location, dangers, and awards of the event. It will also include the introductory post of what the prey is doing before members jump in with their own actions of their characters.
Predator events work much like Prey events, but will be centered around character's fighting skills. You will have to be a little more resourceful and tactile in these posts as Predators can pose a real, and sometimes very dangerous, threat to your characters. Predators will be those common to the area but, just like a prey, a 'rare' one might crop up. Predators will have different strengths and weaknesses depending on the animal. Whether you fight to kill or fight to scare off the prey should depend on these factors as well as the size and overall personality of the Predator; the personality, strengths, weaknesses, and size should be noted in the first introductory post.
Be sure to utilize and make notes of strengths and weaknesses in your posts and try to use your strengths against the Predators. Be descriptive and make note of these strengths. Explain why your character chose to do what it did and what their expected outcome is. It is wise to plan ahead in your posts in case attacks or maneuvers fail against the Predator. As these are more dangerous threads than Prey ones it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a plan. Outcomes be decided by staff based on skills, creativity and user's ability to utilize their character's skills against the Predators.

Mother Nature events are a little different from the other two. They can range from things like a storm/weather event to a herd of caribou stampeding around to a group of staff-played rogues or invading rival pack. Sometimes they'll be limited to a certain number of canids, and sometimes they'll be completely open to a whole rank or everyone. Awards aren't always applicable, but if they are, they'll be announced like any other event. The same suggestions from Prey and Predators regarding using strengths and weaknesses wisely apply here as well. And, again, it's important to make sure you're staying within the boundaries of your character's abilities (i.e., don't overstep into the staff account's domain, don't powerplay/godmod, etc.).
These are usually started in the general roleplay boards and are open to everyone. The first post in the board will be in one of the location threads. GUIDELINES |
- Staff asks that members only join events with limited space (meaning that only a limited amount of participants are allowed) if they are not currently in a limited-space event and if they have not participated in the past few limited-space events. This is because we want to give all members a chance to participate, even those whose time zones or active times don't align with staff's.
- Staff also ask that users do not join events if they cannot post relatively quickly. Events are meant to progress in a reasonable time frame so that we can move on to another event, so please use your best judgment and be self-aware when joining them.
- Keep a posting order. You must give everyone involved a fair time frame to reply to the thread before you do. This is to ensure that no one gets left behind in the roleplay.
PREY EVENTS |
